My Design Philosophy
Defining Purpose: I begin projects with guiding the essential questions: what is the why? What medium best archives the goal? And what is the piece doing? I often start my projects with mind-mapping find new ideas to make sure all perspectives are considered.
Research: Aesthetics become choreography that demands work. When designing a new project, I focus first on the big picture concept and then find which tools are necessary for the task. When doing work for others, I ask myself, “what are they trying to communicate?” “What are the core elements of their ideas?” “What is their history?”
Communication and Collaboration: I am always in constant collaboration with my friends, mentors, and elders. When doing work for others, I budget in time to implement design feedback to build a mutual working relationship. My philosophy design philosophy centers, compromise, storytelling, and listening.
Design: I often draft on paper and then transition to the computer. Design means making multiple rough drafts, exploring a variety of ways to tell a story, and centering clear visual communication.

Inspired by the bicolor colored pencils, this vector illustration conveys my code-switching experience between both sides of my identity.

Maggie Coco
I was commissioned to make a short video accompanying Coco’s songs in her new album. Coco wanted subtitle text for each video. These videos were produced in 2019. I have gained more technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and am now able to make them more precise images, and I have a better understanding of typefaces. There are many aspects of this project I would change to sharpen the images and choose typefaces with greater clarity. This is one of the first digital drawing projects I completed. Through this project, I learned how to compromise and communicate with a client working with a minimal budget.
