Another Tufts would,

  • “use public monuments to reckon with and commemorate Tufts's history and ground us where we are. This work would center and partner with Black and Indigenous historians, artists, and community organizers.”

  • “allow my African-American friends to feel safer in their community.”

  • “uplift BIPOC.”

  • “extend beyond the official University community”

  • “actively address the racial issues, tensions, discrimination, stereotyping, and inequality that exists within and beyond our community.”

  • “mean that I wouldn't have only one Black student in my class”

  • “would actively teach students to disrupt systems of oppression by leading by example”

  • “clearly map power.”

  • “open up networks for POC and people from low income backgrounds.”

  • require all students to be educated about topics like colonialism, systemic racism and oppression, and capitalism

  • do everything in its power to dismantle the unjust systems it perpetuates

  • focus less on grades and GPAs at the center of attention, and more on the substance of what we teach and learn.

  • include a distribution requirement (tentatively to be named ‘Social justice, repair, and liberation;) for which students would have to take classes that discuss topics within social justice.”

  • create alternatives to the physical and social spaces currently taken up by Greek life, and redistribute these resources into spaces that support and uplift the Black community at Tufts.”

  • include a required introductory course in Sociology or American Studies

  • stop using the framework of "inclusion", which only perpetuates Liberal white supremacy at Tufts.

  • be more transparent with hiring practices,

  • would remove the hundreds of surveillance cameras that are unfairly targeting black students, and replacing them with student-led security initiatives

  • keep the Consortium of Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora alive

  • equal support, appreciation, understanding, and encouragement for all students.
